Lions for Lambs
I’ve just watched the film, Lions for Lambs. I’m sure, after the recent passing of the talented, Robert Redford, we are all viewing his film career; we should also be aware of his environmental efforts. I’ve seen the film before but somehow, today, it has meant so much more.
There’s no need to describe the mess we are in right now, worldwide. I’ve been an Expedition Leader running trips in many locations, facilitating scientists in their work as well as a close understanding with local indigenous people. My CV is not half bad. I’ve been involved in trying to educate and convince people about climate change, biodiversity loss and the consequences of what we are doing right now, which is close to nothing or certainly not enough, for decades. I have to admit that I used to be very active. I wrote a book. I’ve appeared on radio and many podcasts. As a Climate Reality Leader, I have presented many times. However, over the years, I’ve received much in the way of criticism and derogatory remarks, and somewhere along the way, I lost the enthusiasm to continue.
Today, I joined a Facebook page for the area where I live - I have recently moved and would like to make new friends. Posting a photo, I happen to be wearing a climate logo shirt, not intentionally. I had a question asking about my tee shirt only to be criticised for my ambitions in tackling climate change. Now, it may have been a bot from the fossil fuel industry, but that and the film, has fuelled me to get back into the fight, very much alongside Robert Redford!
